This facility includes an Olympic size (50 yard) stainless steel pool with a diving well complimented by a leisure pool with slides, water play areas and a lazy river.

  • Proper swim attire must be worn.
  • Appropriate swim skills must be demonstrated before using the diving boards or swimming in deep water.
  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult 16 years of age or older.
  • No tobacco products are allowed inside the facility.
  • No animals are allowed inside the facility.
  • No running, rough play or obscene language is allowed inside the facility.
  • Food purchases from concession stand must be kept in the concession area. No food, glass containers or coolers may be brought into the pool or concession area.  Clear plastic water bottles are allowed.
  • Any person suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance will be asked to leave.
  • Hanging on lane ropes is not allowed.
  • Swimmers with infections conditions, contagious diseases or open wounds will not be allowed admission.
  • In the event of threatening weather or cool air temperatures the pool will be closed until management determines it is safe to reopen the pool.
  • Paging of patrons is not allowed.
  • The City of Washington is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Manufacturer suggested guidelines and rules will be enforced for all equipment. (Suggested height, weight, age limits, user capacity, etc).
  • A ratio of 1 swimming adult for every 5 children must be met with all groups from ages 2-4. Otherwise a ratio of 1 swimming adult for every 8 children must be met.
  • Certified lifeguards will be on duty at all times to ensure the safety of patrons. Patrons must listen to the guards.  Individuals who do not comply with the rules will be asked to leave.
  • Chewing gum is not allowed in the pool areas.
  • No chairs in the water.
  • Disposable diapers are not allowed; however, cloth diapers with plastic pants are allowed. Little Swimmies are highly recommended.  Diapers should be changed only in the locker rooms.
  • No lawn chairs may be brought into the facility.
  • Management exercises the right to take action on circumstances proven not to be in the best interest of the public.

DIVING BOARD RULES

  • Only one person is allowed on the board at a time. Persons in line must wait until the previous diver has safely reached the pool ladder before climbing the diving board ladder.  Divers must exit the diving well at the nearest ladder after diving.
  • Safe diving must be practiced. No running, cartwheels, handstands, inward dives or multiple bounces on the diving board. Driver must dive straight out from the board.
  • Diver must demonstrate swimming ability.
  • No inflatable devices, life jackets or floaties are allowed.

 

WATER PLAYGOUND & SLIDE RULES

  • Only one person is allowed on the slide at a time.
  • Sliders must go down the slide in a sitting position or on back, feet first.
  • Sliders may not be caught in the catch pool (the area below the slide).
  • Goggles, fins, watches, zippers, buckles, life jackets or floatation devices may not be worn while using the slide.
  • Before a slider may do down the slide he/she must wait until the lifeguard signals that it is safe to do so.

Violation of any of these rules may result in the patron being asked to leave.  These rules are not all inclusive and may change at the manger’s discretion.  It is the responsibility of the patron to read and obey all posted rules to ensure safety.

 

The Washington Swimming pool is available for rent for private parties.  The pool is available for rental on Saturdays and Sundays from 8pm – 10pm. The rental fee must be paid 14 days prior to the date of the rental.  A non-refundable deposit of $50.00 must be paid to hold the pool rental date.  The damage/cleanup deposit shall be refunded within 4 weeks if there are no issues.  If there are issues, the damage/cleanup deposit shall be forfeited.

 

Pool Rental Fee:  $250.00

The objective of this program is to let your child’s abilities determine how fast you will progress through the levels.  Practice and persistence are key words in any learning activity.  Participants will receive Certificates of Learning and Progress Reports.  Pre-registration is required!

2018 SWIM LESSON INFORMATION

All lessons will be Monday – Thursday (w/ rain date on Friday)

RESIDENT DISCOUNT RATE — MUST SHOW PROOF OF RESIDENCY!!!

Class Ratio is six(6) children to one (1) instructor.  Maximum of 6 children per class

SEAHORSE— For children usually 3 to 5 years of age.  Teaches buoyancy, breath control, and introduces basic water skills.

STARFISH— Child learns unsupported floating, kicking, and beginning swimming skills.  Front crawl and back crawl are introduced. Usually ages 5 to 8.

GUPPY— Children learn elementary backstroke, kneeling dive, and continue work on front crawl and back crawl.  Usually ages 6 to 10.

FLIPPER— Child is introduced to sidestroke, deep water bobbing, breaststroke kick, and continues work on other strokes.  Usually ages 8 to 11.

SEAL — Child becomes familiar with dolphin kick, treading water, breaststroke, and continues developing previously learned strokes. Usually 9 to 13.

SAILFISH — Students are introduced to the butterfly, front and back crawl flip turns are taught, and endurance is increased.

BARRACUDA — Students refine and review all strokes and turns. Junior life guarding skills are taught.

All Season Passes must be purchased at the Parks office.  We will NOT sell them at the Pool.

Bring your children ages 7 and under to the Leisure Pool to enjoy some time together without the daily crowd.  Child must be accompanied by an adult 16 years or older.  The large slide will not be available during this time.
