Special Activity Application

A Special Activity is any planned event, activity or temporary grouping of people that deviates from the normal land use that occurs on City owned property and interferes with the normal flow or regulation of pedestrian or vehicular traffic or parking and may require special City services.

Examples of a special activity include, but are not limited to:
•Fireworks
•Walks/Runs
•Concerts
•Carnivals
•Fundraisers
•Fairs
•Circuses
•Rodeos
•Public Speaking Events
•Exhibitions
•Cultural/Community Events
•Sales & Promotional Events
•Craft Fairs
•Shows
•Festivals
•Bicycle Races

  1. This Special Activity Application must be signed and received before the review process will begin or approval is issued.  Submission of a request does not constitute approval by the City of Washington Parks and Recreation Department.
  2. Paid fees and/or deposits may be required before a request is approved.
  3. Special Activity permits must be submitted at a minimum of sixty (60) days prior to the use date.
  4. If a street closure will be involved, an additional application will need to be submitted to the Engineering Department.  Please contact John Nilges at jnilges@washmo.gov or at (636) 390-1010 for any questions.  Street Closure Applications must be paid for and received by the Engineering Department at least forty-five (45) days prior to the use date.
  5. If the event is going to be using a Parking Lot/Open Space in the Parks System, a Parking Lot/Open Space Application will be needed.  Please contact Casey Warren at cwarren@washmo.gov or (636) 390-1080 for any questions.  Parking Lot/Open Space Applications must be paid for and reviewed by the Parks Department at least three (3) weeks prior to the use date.
  6. If the event will have alcohol, food, animals or fireworks, additional paperwork will be required.
