Equipment Mechanic (Parks)

General Purpose of Position:
Performs mechanical work and is expected to independently diagnose and carry out needed maintenance and repairs of all Parks & Recreation vehicles and equipment. Must possess knowledge and skills in the performance of mechanical tasks involving general repair, maintenance, and servicing of all vehicle and maintenance equipment.  Is capable of exercising good judgment and individual initiative in handling routine work and special assignments.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
•Serves as the Parks and Recreation Department on-staff mechanic

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:
•Maintains City grounds and related properties
•Maintains City buildings and facilities

Required Education and Experience:
•High school diploma or its equivalent
•Three years directly related mechanic experience and/or vocational training or other certificate of competency, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
•Must be able to read and write in English
•Computer experience

Preferred Education and Experience:
•Five years directly related mechanic experience and/or vocational training or other certificate of competency; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Licenses and Certifications:
•Must possess a valid Missouri Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within three (3) months of hire
•Valid ASE certification desired
•Valid CPR and AED certification are desired
•L-TAP Road Scholar certifications/designations are desired
